To accompany SHUNT’s event ‘The Peoples Republic of SHUNT’ FoulPlay were asked to manage passports for entry. Seizing this opportunity Jack Stigner directs and co-produced ‘Shuntanimo Bay of Pigs’ – a gated border control crossing exploiting the idea of a lawless land between two countries. After severe passport checks and queues, patrons of the venue ventured into a border town harbouring the lives of those whores, beggars, soldiers, pimps and chancers who prey on those stupid enough to venture to the Republic. Distinguishable pig snouts adding a grotesque depravity. Leading punters to the main body of the vaults, the space was designed to evoke the totalitarian war-torn feel of an occupied state. En route through the border town were military posts, a shooting range, security film and bar hosting a range of acts specially curated for the event. Patrons were ordered, directed and checked before they could then trade, drink, dance, sing or run right on through to less hostile climes.
